Tomintoul restaurant / guest house
Discussion
I'm frantically Googeling (?) but hope that the PH Scottish crew can come to my help ...
A while ago, I was told about a wee place near Tomintoul which had a very few rooms and did absolutely excellent (memorable) dinners. I have no recollection of the name or location.
Can anyone think what it might be?
Failing an answer to my plea above; any alternative recommendations would be welcome.
The reason behind the question is that Steph has had a particularly shite week and I'd like to take her away for one night during the next few days. She has work committments and so only one night would work and within an hour or two of Aberdeen.
Thanks,
Eric

The Knockomie Hotel just outside Forres meets your description. About 16 rooms IIRC.
Bit of an olde world vibe - but in a very comfortable and relaxed way.
Recommended.
(The Scandinavian themed room is the one I'd be keen to try next time I'm there .... the Bathroom is amazing. We got shown all the upper end rooms when we were arranging our wedding up there .... plumped for one of the other ones though).

Hi there, I think this is what you were looking for. It is at Corgarff a few miles from Tomintoul. It has 7 bedrooms and a good reputation for food. I have not stayed there or eaten there but I have heard that the food is good. Hope you have a nice trip.A while ago, I was told about a wee place near Tomintoul which had a very few rooms and did absolutely excellent (memorable) dinners. Eric,
I have a funny feeling that tha place you are thinking of is Minmore House Hotel, Glenlivet which I am told is very good but currently closed for renovations. It is situated close to Glenlivet Distillery so you can get a decent dram as well as good food. Pity it is closed just now as I am sure a nice night there would be what Steph needs.
