So, heading up to Aberdeen for a pre-Christmas dinner. Haven't eaten out properly there for about 6 years, so what are the 'upper' end restaurants now?

Any advice guys?

Ooh, traditional fare, steak/seafood or French, perhaps even a good upmarket Chinese/oriental..... I used to know them all, but hear that some of the 'known' names have become a little run-down now.

Olive tree used to be good, Silver Darling etc, but as it's been years, I don't wanna waste my time on anything that's gone down hill....

Piccolo or Napoli for Italian

Ferryhill House Hotel, Inn at the Park, The Brentwood for pub grub

The Thai restaurant on Crown Terrace, can't remember the name of it though

Jewel in the Crown for Indian

That's about it off the top of my head!

Agreed. La Stella has been my fave for some time now (assuming you like seafood). Blue Moon is similar and have been twice, only open weekends i think.

Malmaison is over-priced, but good food although you need to book weks in advance as a rule.

Had a meal at No.1 on Albyn last weekend, it's been taken over by the owners of Fusion (Another good one) and the meal experience we had was superb, 9/10 (Deducted a point for smallish portions!!) and reasonably priced, been raving about it to anyone who'll listen all week biggrin

Tried to get a table at Mal Maison, but despite even staying there for a few nights, I cannot get a table a month in advance!

So, loving the Bistro suggestions for lunch, but wanna dress up a bit at night for dinner, so what's at the classy end of the scale?

OK, end of thread, Malmaison called back to say I've got a booking. Yay!

Cheers for your time replying, and it looks like will be heading to la Stella for lunch...!

Malmaison a bit variable IMHO. Had some superb meals there and some not-so-good.

Lasttime i was there, I had the ox cheeks and they were superb.

Ask for the full whisky menu too, not the short one... wink
