Hi all,

Does anyone have any suggestions? There are a few of us going up in Feb and are looking for somewhere to stay.

Cheers

To be honest I'd steer clear of Wick in favour of Thurso - try the Royal Hotel, it's quite comfortable.

I stayed in the Park hotel in Thurso which was nice, on arrival it turned out they had double booked so I got one of the villa type apartments at the rear of the hotel which was really good.
I heard the Royal got a good write up too.

Not much use if your still going to Wick though tongue out

Has to be Wick i'm afraid. I'm going to see Ocean colour scene on the 13th, and am thinking of staying up in the area for a week or so, maybe head over to Torridon or something.

Another one for Mackays, Murray was (is?) a stalwart of the Caithness car club when Rumster Hillclimb was on the go. All the Hillclimbers stayed there. Some memorable tales come to mind!biglaugh

Sounds like a plan! I'll give him a phone this weekend and see if he has spare rooms.

Another vote for Mackays.

I've stayed there a few times with work and out of the rest of the hotels I've stayed in in the area, Mackays is the best!

The Bistro has some cracking grub too!

Another vote for Mackay's, the Bistro is pretty good, the hotel is OK, not fantastic, but probably the best in the area.

If you struggle to get in to the Mackays the nethercliffe is very good value, almost more a guest house. one no-no is the norseman

Norseman has changed hands, supposed to be really good now.

Another vote for McKays, as said that's where we stayed for the Rumster hillclimbs, hazy memories of getting to bed about 5am and getting up at 7am! Always made very welcome and never any hassle with the late nights....

Under new ownership/ management. Same guys that run the St. Clair Hotel in Castletown, food supposed to be excellent. Don't know how long they've been running it though.
