Had a guy come out to look at refurbing my wheels last night.

Said that they completely re-paint them and then laquer them...i thought they just powdercoated - but then what do i know.

Anyway - he said that the wheels have a lot of metallic in them so he can't guarantee that they will be 100% as they were.......

Has anyone else had this problem - and what have results been?

Woza.

I've heard of this before, silver is a nightmare to match because of the amount of metal flake in it apparently.

If your having all 4 done, is it a problem if they are not exactly the same shade as before? When I had two done, the guy warned me about the match, but the two being done were on the same side. As a mate pointed out, you can only see one side at a time so noone will spot the mis match anyway. having said that, I can't tell which ones are the repaired ones now anyway.

With regard to paint, or powder coat. Again, the chap that did my wheels said powder coat is tougher but looks more plasticky when finished. I had mine painted as that's how they come from the factory (and it was cheaper!).

it's the two fronts that need doing....

if they do look completely out then i can pay to get the rears done aswell but would rather not have to!

Is it the Clio in your profile? If so I think all four wheels are the same size so you could have the two repaired ones put on the same side of the car if your not happy with the match. You might get a surprise and they look ok though.

I know swapping the wheels around might cock up your tyre wear across an axle but you could either live with it until you get new tyres, or get the tyres swapped on the wheels.

Good point, I think I'll just get them done and see how they look!

Surely they won't be able to guarentee that the newly refurbed ones will match the other two if you do them at a different time (if you seen what I mean)? nuts I guess they mix the paint in batches?

Doubt they would match the other two, Ive had many refurbs done and every occasion they've all been different.
