There's about 6-7 helicopters hovering over south side/ harbour of Aberdeen. They are fairly high up and just hovering about.
Any know what's going on?

Yeh i saw these i really wasnt sure what it was but saw a couple move on and realised it was choppers.

Off-shore choppers not able to land due to snow possibly?

Oh right, my family were confused as to what was happening. There must have been 6-7 just hovering around.

I saw this on the way into town too, they appeared very close together, looked strange, all those lights so close together. We counted 7, although I think some were small planes.

Tell me, how can't a chopper land, visibility was good, it just needs to drop down.

It's a total embarassment when the airport can be shut considering it's +1 degrees outside and about 2cm of snow.

If there's excessive amounts of snow on the tarmac, it will get blown about by the rotor downwash and cause 'white out', completely obscuring the pilot's visibility, often leading to lack of situational awareness and a crash. In the desert a similar phenomenon occurs with sand (brown out), adding to the dangers aircrew in Iraq/Afghanistan face:

Right enough, my laugh was aimed at the thought that they run on Petrol. Your comments echo an Irish joke, which I cant be bothered to print here.

Looks like you live in a nice part of toon by the way.

We had the dog at Countesswells Woods today ... did we exchange grunts there?

Otherwise, I'm afraid sir, you have me at a disadavtage.
