Siagon has always been excellent when I have been there. Food, service and value is superb.

Little Italy is also pretty good. Nice Atmosphere and good food.

Done a search before posting the topic.

The Mal Maison seems to be another venue.

Thanks

Paula McEwan's on Great Western Road (used to be the Dining Room) has had good things said about it; been meaning to go for a while but not got round to it yet.

French: Cafe Boheme
Italian: Ciao Napoli
Modern Scottish: Malmaison
Asian: Zen
Seafood: Moonfish or Bistro Verde

Other favourites of mine are the Turkish on skene street (or forest av) and the japanese that just moved to justice mill lane (not been in since it moved though.)

Just my tuppence worth

No 1 is very good just now.

My long term fave has always been La Stella, nice atmosphere too.

Fusion on North Silver Street is a personal favourite, they have a small menu though, so best checking with them first. They also have a chef's tasting menu 7 courses. I'll let you know how that is next week.

Cinnamon on Union Street is a really good Indian, though it can be expensive.

I wasn't impressed with Mal Maison either. One of my pet peeves is waiting staff who won't write down orders on a pad but instead try to memorise everything. At Mal Maison they got three of our orders slightly wrong which is not what I expect at an establishment like that.....write it down dammit!

It's been a couple of months since I last ate at Malmaison but the service has always been superb.

Are these negative reports fairly recent?

I was at malmaison a couple of months ago, it was quite good.... But I would recommend cafe52 over malmaison..... But you need to book a table at cafe52 well in advance.

Did you know that La Lombarda's claims to the oldest Italian restaurant in the UK?!

It was in December. It deflated the evening somewhat but we're going back again in two weeks time for a birthday surprise and I'm sure we won't suffer the same problem twice.

Personally, I think it's a lot of nonsense but just my opinion...
