French: Cafe Boheme
Italian: Ciao Napoli
Modern Scottish: Malmaison
Asian: Zen
Seafood: Moonfish or Bistro Verde
Other favourites of mine are the Turkish on skene street (or forest av) and the japanese that just moved to justice mill lane (not been in since it moved though.)
Just my tuppence worth

Fusion on North Silver Street is a personal favourite, they have a small menu though, so best checking with them first. They also have a chef's tasting menu 7 courses. I'll let you know how that is next week.
Cinnamon on Union Street is a really good Indian, though it can be expensive.

I've always liked Simpsons.... The Wife was at Mal Maison a few weeks ago and wasn't impressed...
I wasn't impressed with Mal Maison either. One of my pet peeves is waiting staff who won't write down orders on a pad but instead try to memorise everything. At Mal Maison they got three of our orders slightly wrong which is not what I expect at an establishment like that.....write it down dammit!Lefty Two Drams said:
It's been a couple of months since I last ate at Malmaison but the service has always been superb.
Are these negative reports fairly recent?
It was in December. It deflated the evening somewhat but we're going back again in two weeks time for a birthday surprise and I'm sure we won't suffer the same problem twice. Are these negative reports fairly recent?
