Now before i start, i've not been on the booze. Well not enough to warrant seeing Pink elephants.

This has always intrigued me since i have lived here...

What is the deal with the (now very faded) pink elephants in the window of the house on your right after Foveran as you go from Ellon to Aberdeen? I have heard stories about people sending them postcards from holidays and other odd happenings. Also, in the past few years the elephants have started to multiply. Does anyone know? Has anyone else even noticed them?

If you have no idea what i am talking about click the link.

I don't remember when i first noticed them but ever since i've glanced at them as i go past every time. Maybe your friends in Ellon will know. It's driving me nuts.

How can you sell a house with the condition padington must remain in the window? Some people are very odd.

Right, asked my mate about them, she said there was 1 elephant to begin with, and people from the ellon area sent the elephant postcards (how strange) so then they got more elephants now. So yeh, similar to what you said.

I just asked her, do you know anything about pink elephants in Foveran, and she knew exactly what I was talking about.

Haha so i'm not going mad. Why the hell would you send a cuddly toy a postcard?

How long has your friend been in the Ellon area? I've lived here for over ten years now and it has always been there. Why was the elephant put there in the first place?! So many questions...

She's lived there all her life.
I'll ask some other friends if they've saw it, that's all she knew. I'll write back on this topic tomorrow night if I find out anymore. None of them are on MSN at the moment.
Strange topic but i'm intrigued to find out more. smile

Is that one in Stepps still displayed there?! I remember that Paddington from many years ago before the M80 Stepps Bypass was built, used to be driven along there as a kid most weekends.

Right, the ex-girlfriend tells me that people donate money to the people in the house, who then give the money to charity.

Theve been there as long as I can remember, only there seems to be more of them now than when I was a nipper.
There was an article in the P&J a couple of years back about it, apparently the elelphants recieve postcards from folk all over the world.

I tried to have a look for the article in the P and J but no luck.

I still can't get my head round the fact people donate money and send postcards to pink elephants.

The elephant was on display in the window for a long long time then it was removed. The owners of the house started receiving letters etc asking for the return of the elephant. They then re-instated it in the window several years ago and it has stayed there since.
