There is a Somerfield shop on the block of Union Street between Huntly Street and the Music Hall.

There are two storeys above and I'm puzzled as to what they're used for.

I wondered if it was the YMCA but that's moved according to their website.

It's obviously still in use for something as I see windows open on a fine day. I also saw a pussy cat sitting in the window a few weeks back.

Google street view lionk below (be patient for it to load).

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&amp...

I'd be grateful if anyone has any information.

Thanks,

Eric smile

I've always wondered what they were used for.
I've done a little research into and can't find anything.
Although there's a new Sainsbury's next door.

As far as I was aware, they were flats? With the entrance on Huntly Street?

Housing association flats? Never seen any of them on the market for sale.

That's what I thought too.

It certainly used to be YMCA [in the 70s at least].

The P&J mentions this: this rather nasty history, and refers to the flats as "the stopover homeless accommodation in Aberdeen where she was working as a volunteer".

Not nice.

That is scary, and actually, the sister of the victim is a friend of my friend.

Years and years ago as a boy I'm sure I remember going to a model railway exhibition in that building, could be wrong though, but 80% sure.

Taking my PC hat off momentarily, you certainly see a lot of minks around the entrance to that place on Huntly St...
