Since we are coming into touring term, it struck me that it's been a while since I heard anything about the proposal to bridge the Berriedale Braes, anyone update me on this? IMHO it will be a bloody shame, but I'm not an artic driver nor do I have to drive them in winter.

scratchchinHmmm if they did bridge it, the north brae in particular would make a great hillclimb shout Caithness Car Club!

it's been promised for years but looks even further away from happening than ever just now. Great fun as long as you don't get stuck behind something slower smile

One of my company cars, in years gone by, used to virtually ignite due to overheating the brakes there on my many trips to a large atomic establishment. Both were overly complex in design with poor reliability, mines was a Citroen BX19TZD Turbo. Happy days with no scameras or talivans. driving

Its a superb road, the old road was major fun!!

but the new road is still good, i leave Edinburgh usually very early in the morning, 3 am in the summer and the road is just empty apart for the odd truck and caravan, touch wood i have never had any problems with the law,

Somedays after Inverness if your in a good car and your "pushing on" it just makes the whole supercar thing worthwhile, it just makes up for all the *hit we have to put up with smile

I am up to orkney at least 5 times a year and its a great road, just do it at dawn or as early as you can, AMAZING !!!
