Me and that bunch of hippies that are going to ponce about with fire at the end of the month, are looking for somewhere that's recently cut a load of boughs or young trees and needs to get shot of some.

We're after about 80 1metre (straightish) lengths of wood, about 10cm thick to make torch brands. It needs to be relatively fresh as we don't want the wood itself to burn too readily - we wrap paraffin soaked cloths around the top, held on with chicken wire.

Any ideas?

I've got a dozen fir that need to come down. You'd easily get 80m from them and they're the right kinda breadth.

Cut em down and they're yours.

Where are you based? And does fir wood contain the same resin that the needles do? (If so, that's a no-no, too much of a fire risk).

I would advise against using freshly felled pine for your purposes Graham. If the sticks go a light and are made of 'green' pine the sap could spark or start to ooze down all over the person holding the sticks hand.

Aye, that's why I was asking about the resin.

As it happens, it's now (as of today) a non-issue. We have a shipment of wood coming in. Yay.
