And what happens when you put a Pro bike racer in his first car race!

Here's a few of my pics, found the GT race to be quite dull, but the first Formula Ford race was superb and the legends never fail to entertain.

I was up for the whole day yesterday - enjoyed all the racing and the noise from the GT's was something else, particularly the Ascari smile

Glad I waited until the death of the second GT race: I've got a sequence of photos of the Ginetta stepping out under braking at the end of the main straight and going across the track backwards, through the pack into the gravel. I missed the shunt on the restart after the safety car though...

(I'll add some photos up later in the week once I find the time!)

During the race the GTs were doing just into the 51s, I believe the qualifying best dipped into 49s.

Correct on the GTs, that's what I heard too although I think only one car (the black 430?) dipped into the 49's in qualifying?

I may not have picked it up correctly but I'm sure I heard the following from the commentators over the tannoy yesterday:

- F1 car (2003 Ferrari) approx 41sec

- Formula Fords approx same times as the GTs

The Ascari was my favourite noise, that BMW V8 in it does sound good. I saw the Morgan GT3s last year at Silverstone with that same engine and they sounded like WWII fighther planes. Awesome noise. smile

All the other classes results here:

http://www.mylaps.com/results/showevent.jsp?id=532...

Mini's run about 63s
Scottish Formula ford around 55/56s
Legends around 61s
XR2s around 62/63s

The Sports/Saloon cars are very very impressive - 52s for Shaw/Taddei, and I don't know what Garry Watson has in his Westfield, but to keep up in the 52s with the big power boys is mighty impressive.

Here's Garry Watson in action:

Better (very) late than never, but I finally sorted out my photos from the Brit GT racing at KH on 8th May. Work and personal life conspired against me actually getting these sorted out til now. I'm still learning with a new lens and my first SLR so please go easy on me!

Plenty here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/a11y_m/sets/721576240... but quite similar to what's already posted by others.

I did catch the cause of the late safety car in the second GT race at the end of the day - a spinning Ginetta:

Another testimony to how strong Minis are. Mine (getting clipped and sent wide through the gravel in the pics hehe) was through the tyre wall at Round 1, replaced the suspension arms and damaged panels, back out.

The Tynecastle guest car only needed the rear arms replaced and new bumper/support. They were able to drive it down the road back to the garage after swapping the arms over!

You caught that very well. Good timing! Good photos from the rest of your set too. I really enjoyed Knockhill that weekend as it wasn't too busy, so you could get in the good spots like at McIntyres/Scotsman. Come BTCC weekend, there isn't that luxury, with the camping chairs and fishing tents all getting setup at 6am of qualifying day

Cheers. Just being lucky and in the right place at the right time.

Yeah I tend to avoid the BTCC weekend for the same reason - can't be bothered with the crowds, despite really wanting to head along and watch the racing. I only made it along to one SMRC meeting last year and promised I'd make a few more this year, so hopefully I'll be as lucky as I was with those shots and bag a few more.
