Graypaul Ferrari Maserati‎

Has anyone been to the above at the Fort Kinnaird?
Went for a little look this evening.
Was literally there for around three minutes when all of a sudden a chap comes on the speakers and states the following,
" You are currently being filmed and watched, leave immediately"
I honestly could not believe it. Fair enough if it was children up to no good, but two adults just having a look, seriously?
If I win the Lottery, I will not be buying a car from there!

I bought my car from Graypaul in Edinburgh, they are excellent, the sales and service teams are great, if you went down during the day when they are open you would have been able to look around the showroom and be greated by a very friendly bunch. This is just some security guard getting nervous with people around. You'd only be doing yourself a disservice by letting this affect your judgement of Graypaul if you want to buy something from them.
Just my 2 pence worth.

Quite a few dealers now have proximity warning systems (rude bloke on tannoy). They are automated. We used to have all sorts of problems with folk hanging round the dealership in my Land Rover days - particularly with kids using the off road course as a half pipe. We had to shoo them away in case they got hurt and sued us - they would then come back and throw bricks at the showroom windows which cost a few bob.
Once had a guy who managed to swerve off the Portobello Road (to avoid an old dear crossing the road), across the forecourt and through the showroom window in his Volvo. Ended up where a Holland & Holland Rangie had been two minutes earlier. If I'd caught that on video I would have been a YouTube millionaire by now

I went there after getting invite to a Ferrari day, rolled up in my 996 tt and was ignored until 35 mins later i left, the place was not even busy fffs!!
six months later i went again in the 996 tt to buy a 360 and got a right royal *ucking around,
"can you come back next week" answer = no i will be on a oil rig, let me run it round the block and i will tell you in 10 mins if (and i was) i am going to have it,
Ferraris sales clowns reply? ERRRRRR No, its not been cleaned!!
I will NEVER spend a single pound of my money there, ever!
bear in mind this year i have had a 997 c2s, a e60 M5, a X6 and now have my alpina B6s (and i forgot, a range rover for the winter and of course my mrs has a c class Kompressor) so i am not exactly someone who wastes dealers time, they are just a shower of *ossers and unless your wearing a suit forget it,
And btw a GREAT DEALER is www.kennydunn.co.uk treats me very well indeed, in fact he is getting me a new M3 as i write, so the moral is if you want REAL service go to kenny, great lad.

You know you can actually ask for someone to help you? I quite like the more relaxed attitude, they're quite happy for people to come in and look around. You can't win though with people's views on car dealers, some people want to have their ass kissed, some like a more relaxed and less pushy attitude. robinh20mrv said:

So did you just roll up and ask for a drive or did you phone ahead and give them some notice so they could be prepared? is it bad that they may want to show their car in the best light."can you come back next week" answer = no i will be on a oil rig, let me run it round the block and i will tell you in 10 mins if (and i was) i am going to have it,

Graypaul for me were excellent, their after sales has been excellent too, if they've treated me well why would they not do the same for you?
John.
I have visited Greypaul a few times and have had a mix of experiences. I am in the car nut category and not a buyer, which is probably apparent.
The voice over is automated as I had the same message when I first visited there(in the evening after it was closed though). Another time I was told in no uncertain terms to get lost and taking pictures/filming(I was not getting in the way or anything but it wouldn't be right to say the reason on a public forum).
Since then I have been back and most of the blokes are pretty pleasant. I had a pretty good chat with one of the lads until a customer came in.

it's definitely a balancing act when it comes to customer service. They were very nice when i was looking at a 997 but i'd forgotten my dvlc. So no tootle for me. Actually meant that boyfriend went to his special toy shop and got one there sans dvlc. But on one occasion they were definitely less than interested and i know i didnt want my ass to be kissed... A hello wouldve been nice though

To be fair John, as they are the seller, I feel that it is there responsibility to come up to you and ask if you need help. If you've got money to spend, you don't want to do the chasing, they should be doing the chasing. All in my opinion of course

This is the balancing act, I don't want to be pressured into anything and I don't want a salesman hanging around me when I'm trying to be critical of a car, when I'm ready to do business I'll let them know and if all I want is a look around I've not wasted anyones time, but everyone is different and has a different expectation of a dealer, you can't please everyone

I had made a appointment, and the car was STILL not ready, do they make so much money that they cant be bothered making a very easy sale? better still they said can i come back another week later!

because they are the biggest bunch of *ossers i have ever met, and as said i will NEVER but any car from them, perhaps i should wear a suit to be sold a car? or perhaps i am used to great service like that from kenny dunn.

No experience of the Service side of the business tho since I prefer the more personal attention (and price I guess) down the road at MP Supercars.
Can I just point out that turning up looking scruffy isn't a great way to test the sales staff in a dealership. If you get ignored, most likely they are indifferent to everyone.
My best experience of this was a guy who turned up at my dealership at 8:30 am (when absolutely everyone was busy), wandered round the showroom for 2 minutes, and then complained (yelling & screaming) because he was being ignored for wearing overalls. 1 hour later he had spent 28k with me.
I can't tell you the number of times I have been told "I was ignored because I was in work clothes, but I went off and bought somewhere else and then came back with my new car to rub the salesman's nose in it....."
Car sales people do not just ignore scruff-bags. They ignore everyone. So if you get a kick from going round car showrooms trying not to be sold a car - give it up.
