Morning all

Just wondering if anyone can recommend any where to get 5 original panel doors stripped (1920's)

I know there one company in Dundee, but the last time I used them, the finsh was not the best.

Thanks in advance

The advice I've been given by a friend who is a professional antique restorer is to avoid any acid dipping of doors.

It does give a good result initially, but the acid also eats into the glue in the joints and the doors will in time come apart at the seams.

I know that he uses Nitromors Craftsman - the one in the yellow tin - for stripping paint.

This doesn't answer your question, but I figured it might be worth saying anyway smile

I have stripped doors myself in the past.....8 of the buggers, plus a 15 x 15 rooms worth of high skirtings, and and and.

The thought of doing it all again depresses me....although I agree the finish does tend to be better.

May I am best just sticking to the gunge, rubber gloves and a scraper frown

That's enough about your sex life, now what are you going to do with your doors. hehe

If it;s the one in Peep O day lane, that's the one I use. Need to watch out for them shrinking if you get them dipped though.
