Caught in a tailback this morning due to an accident. Aston Martin facing the wrong way on a dual carriagway, looks like the 4x4 tried to avoid it by coming off the road and hitting a tree. At a guess I'd say the owner of the Aston put the foot down too early on a wet road as he was coming off the roundabout, lost control, impacted a number of things and crossed the central reservation. Nasty!! Does anyone know if the driver is ok?

Hi,

The driver got off lightly with cuts and bruises and a broken collar bone.
The Aston Martin was not his. He had won the use of it for a day in a competition.

Ouch!

Cheers,
Ripface.

Doesn't sound like he slid coming off the roundabout. I heard the car was lying way after the roundabout, between the park and ride traffic lights and the 70mph signs.

Just seen the pictures in the Evening Express. How on earth did he manage that? Guessing he floored it just before the traffic lights then when the surface changes aways from the grippy non skid surface he spun it.

Surprised they had to cut the roof off given the damage isn't all that bad. Hope he was insured!

Could be a cheap convertible Vanquish at Overton shortly smile

Looked like a nasty one, saw the Nissan truck but missed the Aston itself when I was on my way out to the office in Westhill. Must have done something pretty brutal with the loud pedal to end up like that.

Having witnessed first hand a serious road accident yesterday, this sort of news is just adding to what will be my renewed caution on the roads. A split second and your life changes forever.

On a wet or damp road you need to control your speed on any car. It was obvious by the location of the accident that it was caused by inexperience. When accelerating in more powerful cars you need to be progressive not just thump the loud pedal and hope for the best.

Heard about this on the radio whilst waiting to do my driving test (of all places!) today.

Hope everyone is alright.

Exactly, people with no experience of a performance car like that shouldn't just be given the key and told to get on with it, seen too many stories like this, most recent the one where a couple hired a lambo for their wedding and the groom mated it to a roundabout, what do they think's going to happen????

John.
