Cheers for the replies guys. One of my mates just moved into a place in town and his flatmate had been given the wrong information from BT when he called up looking to get the phone/bb connected. Sounds like it should be easy enough to sort out now.
BT,not getting things right has been a problem for some time - possibly the overseas connection . But I had the same problem with BT - and on finding I was being royally ripped off and left( outside contract)-they tried to charge me for service they had not provided ,when I OBJECTED tried to add on solicitors fees and default /debt collectors fees .In the end ,when faced with Trading Standards , charge came down to a few pounds . I'd look at other ,non BT providers . ( And that's said ,by a trained telecomms bloke - and yes , BT( WELL GPO) trained me .)In the old days we had a saying "Subscribers get service IN SPITE OF THE GPO" - nowadays ,I'd replace GPO with BT .
Hey Andy,
Just noticed this thread. Long story short the flat is mine, just moved in with a friend of a friend who's a polish student and he was getting the run around by BT. They were trying to charge him £150 reconnection fee and we're directly opposite their office in the centre of Glasgow.
A few minutes on the web and i've got it sorted. Or at leasty will do when I decide to open my tight wallet!
Thanks for the contributions guys

My parents are having difficulty with them just now, were planning to switch to BT and had the hub sent out. Brother took the day off work and they didn't turn up. Dad phoned them up, first technician didn't have time then the job disappeared altogether.
We have obviously been sent the hub so can't just disappear! Dad has now cancelled the switch and is getting calls and emails to say a technician will be over on such and such
date. He's worried they'll get charged a call out fee even though they have cancelled it at least three times now! Seem to be commication issues to say the least!
