I wonder if anyone has any ideas, I've been trying to sell my 1989 BMW 635CSi for about a month now - it's a solid car with good history. Originally up for over £3K, I've dropped the price back to £2,450 and now am willing to accept £2k - which is half of what the price guides reckon for an average 635. With only one proper bite in amongst the scammers, things are now getting a touch desperate - I relocate to Calgary in two weeks time and really need to shift the car before I go. Any ideas on a suitable place to try it? It's on Autotrader, Pistonheads and has been previously on Car And Classic along with eBay.

Help!

Miles,

Have you tried calling Bavaria Auto Werke to see if they might be interested? Maybe also some of the other smaller independent dealers around town?

Although not dealers, a call to Autotech might yeild something.

I didn't know you were off - good luck with the move. I'm sure you'll really like Calgary ... swapping Anderson Drive for Deerfoot Trail ... biggrin

Looks a nice car. It is a good price.

I'd love it but don't have the cash just now unfortunately.

Hi Miles, if you haven't tried already I would recommend sticking an add in the P&J/evening express, I had my Golf 4motion advertised on PH for a while and no real interest, yet stuck in the local rags and it sold instantly, I didn't expect that! Good luck with the sale, I saw the car at the dyno day last year and it is a corker. Surely Mike will buy it whilst the quattro is being rebuilt??

Cheers

Cheers Eric, going on secondment with TAQA and SWMBO has taken a sabbatical from her teaching job for a year. Spent a lot of time in the US, but never Canada - it's supposed to be lovely with a good standard of living.

well i didnt know you were off, another poker night before you go? Does this explain the 4x4 bug?!!!
I will send an email to that bloke who lives near you who has one too... I do like them but already struggling to justify my 3 cars and 4 bikes!

try E30zone and a few of the BMW classic sites.

Away in ten days, so probably not enough time for another poker night. curse Back at Christmas, so perhaps then.

4x4 thing was a co-incidence, so when I go the Cherokee will be laid for the duration of the time away. Then, when I come back, it'll be modified, taken off road and then broken. Notice there's a Cherokee the same age as mine which parks in Ferryhill which has a suspension lift/snorkel/knobby tyres, so not the only one in town with strange ideas! silly

Actually, there's been a bunch of interest since I dropped the price to £1950 so things are looking up. Goes to show, one always thinks yer car is worth more than it actually does. C&SC and their predictions of average 635CSi being worth £4K. Hmmm. redcard
