Was pretty guff to be honest - it gets shorter every year and aircraft selection was pretty dire.

I really can't stand all the stunt plane stuff they put on show, but I suppose that is all that is available at the time?

Dakota and Catalina were good (again)

Cheers

Why put it on the same weekend as Farnbourgh?

Frankly I was appalled at the poor quality of the show this year, and felt quite sorry for those poor sods who paid to get in to the airfield. We watched it from my mother's house about a mile a way to the East, where we've always had a great view of the show in the past, especially the fast jets which have a much wider turn, and come over the roof of the house. We've had the Red Arrows at very, very low level over the house in recent years, but now that the Sunderland Air Show is on the same weekend, we get nothing.
Two jets this year, both old. The rest were fine, but too far away to get a good view. No Typhoon, no Tornado, no Red Arrows, no Battle of Britain flight. Of interest, the Spitfire, Mustang and P40, the Dakota and the Catalina. Whoopee.
Leuchars looks much more promising, and if the weather is kind I'll be heading off up there on my motorbike. Beats the traffic, and parking is free outside the sergeants mess. It was fantastic last year, with clear skies and a really hot day. Chances of a repeat are doubtful, but we can but dream.......................

Yup, Leuchars it is. Did Duxford September show too last year. Really good and tempted to get back down there this year. Weekend before Leuchars.

Never managed Leuchars but did East Fortune last year - I wasn't impressed then, either, except for the Vulcan (which, tbh, was really the only reason I went).

I guess I've been spoiled from my years within easy striking distance of Duxford, Fairford, Kemble, Abingdon, Cosford, Biggin Hill and Old Warden.
