Hey troops,

On the back of our charity day which as you know was for cancer research, the cash is being donated through the just giving website. A scottish company called amp3 were heavily involved in setting the donation path up and were very grateful for our donations.

The Owners of Amp3 are heavily involved in the scottishelises.com forum, which along with sidc and others are well renowned for their high quality and very friendly trackdays - for this reason many drivers use these days for their first time on track .

I can vouch first hand at the comaraderie amongst the track day enthusiasts towards new recruits and they will gladly take time out to assist rookies (and regulars looking to improve) by accompanying them on their first few laps or by giving you passenger laps in their cars (some of the guys are amazing and seem to really enjoy pushing it on as you sit laughing at how much fun it is).

The tracktime is on Fri 6th August from 3pm to 5pm, and is available for a minimum donation to charity of £65.00

In appreciation of our funds raised they have asked me to offer places at this fantastic day to the ph troops.

The following is extracted from their post;

  • ******Donation amounts. These amounts are very much a minimum to get you a place - as in previous years, we really welcome anything you can give as 100% goes to the charity.
Track space - Minimum £65
Evening event - Minimum £15

All you need to do to get your space is donate the amount at this justgiving page: http://www.justgiving.com/AMP3TD10 Track spaces are strictly limited and first-come first-served. If you can't make the event, but book a space, I'm afraid we can't refund you as this donation is sent straight to the charity - they don't do refunds!

1. The trackday
Held at Knockhill Race Circuit in Fife, Advanced MP3 Players hosts the trackday, which runs between 3-5pm. All participants donate their track-fees to Cancer Research.

During the trackday there are passengers laps available for donations to Cancer Research in various Supercars.

Also during the trackday passenger laps are available in the AMP3 Lotus Elise Race Car, and the Procureall Lotus 2-11 Race Car, with our own tame racing drivers, again to raise more funds.

So far Redbull are also confirmed for the event with their Wing Girls, Minis, and just in case it was needed, Redbull samples!

2. The BBQ and Auction
This year the post-trackday fun will be taking place at Boroughmuir Rugby Club, just off Collington Road in Edinburgh, thanks to Ed for arranging their 400 person function suite and terrace for us.

The BBQ, which is sponsored annually by Martin Bairds Butcher in Melrose supplies the food, and we sell tickets to the event which is fantastically well supported, with over 120 people attending last year.

During the BBQ raffle tickets are on sale for the MASSIVE raffle which is normally very generously donated to. Post Raffle its time to move on to the auction, where we hope to raise even more funds. Moet have kindly donated 3 magnums to the cause, for auction (personally engraved)********

The guys have also organised now the chance to donate and have 3 laps in either a Ferrari 360cs, Porsche GT3RS, Lotus 211 race car, caterham and others. These are not parade laps, every car will be driven by a pro racer and they will be on track (and probably racing each other) at the same time.

All in all it'l be a brillaint afternoon full of fast cars, great banter and by the looks of it a few fit girls aswell. Wether your a trackday guru or a first timer this is genuinely one of the best days possible to cut your teeth on track. You will see nothing but great and courtious driving, have access to more tuition/help you could imagine, all in all it will be huge fun. So get your donation in, email shug@amp3.co.uk to let him know youve done it and have a great day.

For those not driving, if your interested in supporting a great event, donating for some very (very) fast laps in a supercar or just want to donate and go and mingle please stick a post up here and I will get it sorted.

Thanks guys and sorry for the long post.

OK, I'm being a bit of a dope here, but how would I know if I'm going to get a space?

I'm up for putting in a donation as I might be able to make it, and I'm keen to do so if I've a working car. Only risk is I've whole day session at Oulton Park earlier that week and movement-wise I won't get the car back home until the night before. But if the car is broke I've no problem 'losing' the donation for no track time - my fault and I've just done my charity good deed for the month.

But how do I know my donation is going to go in before the spaces all go - and how do you know that my donation only wants to buy track time and not the evening soiree?

Hi, good question, sorry it's not too clear.

I will check in the morning but I'm pretty sure easiest way is to email shug@amp3.co.uk as he has the list of attendees. He can confirm no of spaces left at that time by return (email during daytimeish hours) then if there's still spaces just make your donation.

Know it's not the simplest but def worth the effort

cheers

Checked with Shug this morning, just email him direct - shug@amp3.co.uk to check theres still spaces, then make your donation and give him a quick email back to confirm youve done it.

For those who fancy booking a supercar ride or just coming to mingle same applies, make contact with shug for what you want and he will keep you right.

cheers

Why, why does this trackday have to be at the wrong time and the wrong day in my line of work!?

I nearly pi$$ed myself when I saw the chance to ride in a 360 CS!!!

I'll sort out a wee donation to the cause though.

I booked up last year and then couldn't get the time off work (oops). Looks like a great event for anyone looking to go along.

Hi Guys

Would be great to have some of you along.

the ride in the 360CS will be like no other as the owner uses the sidewindows for his line of sight through the corners!

We also have the new 997 GT3 RS on track offering pax rides, Audi R8, 2 x 340R, the Lotus Cup Europe 2-11 race car, and a Caterham 7 sls.

Its our 4th year and should be an epic afternoon

cheers

Andrew, try harder this year! You must attend.

See http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?... for pax lap donations. Not to be missed (especially the CS pax).

I will be in the SLR.

For those that dont know, Andy and Mass (gordonf430 and modena scotland) who have posted above will both be doing their bit offering pax laps.

They are both to cool to admit it but they are brill to sit beside. Ever wondered what its like to sit beside clarkson as he gives it a big handful of sideyways and smoke. These guys will give you that experience. well, apart from yelling "powerrrrr" as they go sideyways, and they could argue theyve got better haircuts!

Also there's a chance to win a one off experience.

My race car and a Knockhill race instructor are up for grabs, for a £10 donation to Cancer Research. You'll get 30 minutes of instruction in the car which I campaign in the Elise Trophy. Its currently in Ocean terminal if you want a look, and our store there can enter you in the draw also.

The link to the prize is below and all the proceeds are going to Cancer Research.

Hope posting the URL is okay.
