After some reminiscing in the run thread i thought i'd go see what i could find.

This seems to be the kick off point of our modern runs : http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I'd now say that we have quite an active wee section of PH.

Thanks should go to Paul, Andrew, Kenny, Si, Flip and not forgetting our Av' for the HH's. Also everyone who has helped organise and equally important folk that have actually turned up to take part in the runs.

It takes a lot of effort to start these things up and get them to the point they are now. I for one, am very chuffed with what the PH people of Scotland have achieved.

So here's to another 2 years of exciting roads, exciting cars and some braw wee meets. clap

Indeed, been going for even longer (2007 was the 1st?) and they are always special.

Things really kicked off back with that run though and have got even better since.

Ha, thanks. You're obviously quite well versed on the subject, where is best to buy them then?

Found a link to the first properly massive run that had people coming from all over the country.

The run went to Oban and back.

It was the run I popped my PH run cherry on biggrin

Good shout VP.

Seems we have a Central/North divide with a lot of intermingling.

It does seem that the social side of the site has grown considerably in scotland in the last few years.

Hopefully with the recent developments and a few larger events that may grow to become annual institutions of the scottish section these may grow to a point where the central and Northern guys get together and form friendships such as we are doing down here and the guys up there are doing.

Kenny and I were discussion this last night, with a view to our own tartan tie and piston or whatever it'l be called that with this we may attract the northern guys down and possibly a few of the southerners up for the night along with a cross over from ssc, se etc to create a cracking event.

We will actively email avril, the se guys and make a point of emailing the guys on the Northern runs to invite their participation.

On our runs, there are a few faces coming every time who have not so far made the ssc list for hh, perhaps kmm or sherman could point them out for invitations if Avril was agreeable.

With all of the above in mind we could have a cracking wee social callender up here with btap type event, hh, summer bbqs and a couple of bi monthly runs to fill the gaps, 4 or 5 dates in the year is def not overkill and far enough apart to stop things getting stale.

I only wish I'd found out about pistonheads earlier

Now you just need to come out for a drink at an Edinlush. Applies to the rest of you as well.

They are on the 3rd Thursday of the month at Hamiltons bar in Stockbridge Edinburgh. Its only a £5 taxi ride from either Waverly or Haymarket. Getting a Taxi home at the end of the night is not a problem and if there is more than one person the taxi drivers let you share cabs.

We certainly have come a long way. So many enthusiastic, helpful and friendly people I can now consider friends. Very often I see posts in here where people go above the call of duty in helping out others.

That's a good point, still to make it along to one of these. Are they early kick offs?

Have often thought about going along, but my i very rarely drink. A good description of me drinking is like a hand grenade going off. Wouldn't want to fall out with everyone all at once or i'd have no friend left sob sob.

LHD never drinks at the Edinlush. I have not drank a few times. Being sober does not mean that you cant come along. It is more about the conversation.

I don't normally drink at it as it's a school night for me.
