I dropped my wife off at Edinburgh Airport last Sunday. I drove in, dropped her off and drove out - no charges.
Or is this something that they are proposing?

East Midlands has just started charging £1 for drop offs.

Luton started a year or two ago.

Birmingham is still charging, after it had to use the short stay car park as a drop off point in the wake of the Glasgow bomb. This was the only area suitable to drop off, near the terminals, and barriers were already in use. They dropped the entry charge to £1 for short drop offs as a temporary measure, which has, unsurprisingly, become permanent.

Manchester has building work in progress that looks like preparation for charging.

Bandits, the lot of them.

Find a non-permit street and get the Airlink bus.

My street, for example, parking space for you for 10 quid per week - then you just need 1.20 to Waverley and 6 quid for the open return on the Airlink biggrin

I believe Glasgow have done likewise - you can drop off but whilst I was there recently they were fining people for picking up - watch out, they tend to pull you in just as you leave the drop-off point. The taxi driver I use now has to go in to the short stay car park to wait and it costs him (me) a quid for the pleasure whether it is 5 secs or 5 mins. Ruddy nuisance.

Limos and some other taxis still get to use the bottom floor of the car park outside the terminal at Glasgow which is free for 10mins - get your driver to swing in there.

Sure - closed shop on which taxis get free passage though. Mine had to pay and so did the wife for the pleasure of pausing for me to throw a bag in the back and hop in. I just think it is unnecessary particularly as the old system using the ground floor of the car park opposite the terminal allowed everyone 10 mins free.

Its not started yet guys, something they are proposing!

I've parked in stehill in my old laguna and got the number 35.
Wouldn't do that with a decent car.

I live about 15 mins from the Airport and have a double garage so I could do two weeks for £50! wink

I fly to/from Edinburgh at least once a week, although I park in short stay most of the time. At first I was outraged by this but they do it at Belfast City and it seems to work well and discourages people hanging around, big groups, etc. At the end of the day it's only £1.
