I'm heading to Fort William next month for my brother's stag-do and we've got some outdoor activities booked up. I assumed that there would be some decent bars and maybe even a club but I'm not so sure now.

Is anyone familiar with Fort William nightlife? Any recommendations?

Cheers

Used it as a climbing base sometimes. Pretty average night out in all regards at best. There was a night club of sorts, but I'm struggling to remember its name. You'll just have to make your own fun up!

My mate is from Fort William, i'll ask him what he suggests but every single time he talks about going out in the place it is with an acid tongue to say the least.

Definitely make your own fun!

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Looks like it might be a bit of a struggle... I'm sure we'll make the best of it though!

Not a very nice thing to say. There are a few people in Fort William/Lochaber with Down Syndrome but they are cared for so they can have as good a life as possible and to brand any town as full of 'mongs' is not really justified.

I am lucky enough to come from that area and aim to move back there as soon as possible. As with every area there are nice people and not so nice people but there are more of the former in most places.

On the original thread, There are several pubs but as its a climbing town id aim for the bars that suit that crowd the best. They would be the bar in Nevisport which is called Cobbs now and there is a bar a taxi ride up Glen Nevis called the Ben Nevis Inn which is good and does live music and food etc. Its not a pub crawl town so Id settle in one place and dont worry about crossing all off the list.

Its a horrible place. Its only saving grace is the surrounding area. If it were not in an outstanding spot of beauty it would be a ghost town.

Quite.

Leftfield - While not in Ft William, if you are out and about, there is the Bothan Bar above The Ice Factor in Kinlochleven, and also the Clachaig Inn, near Glencoe village.

I was born there but don't have many good things to say about it. Mainly down to very short-sighted ideas by the local council! Could be a great outdoor sports town but there's far too much cheap tat there for my liking. Fine of you want to buy a doll wearing a Stewart tartan...
