Edinburgh Hotel (Oct 1st-4th), Any Recommendations?
Discussion
Hi all
My brother's booked flights for a short break to Edinburgh with his OH on the 1st October and is in need of some assistance for a nice hotel.
His OH is travelling up a few days before as she's going there for work, but i have info from a good source that he's going to pop the question at some point when he's there.
Despite his other reasons for booking the break, he's trying to work to a budget and is not wanting to spend more than about £300 for the 3 nights.
Is there anywhere people can recommend that's pretty central, a nice hotel and isn't going to cost too much more than his budget (ish)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

(Just to add, one of his friends has already recommended Radisson Blu on the Royal Mile, but its nearly £400)

Going by local knowledge and the prices on Laterooms.com I'd say
The Hudson
The Carlton (V nice)
Edinburgh Marriott (not really central but cheaper)
Royal British & Old Waverley have excellent locations but are tired inside but cheaper
Problem being is that there are so many at the Premier Inn / Holiday Inn level and are priced to not far off his budget max. I'm guessing a Holiday Inn isn't quite what he is after though!
If you find anything else that sounds good for price and availability just mention them on here.

Or try the "top secret hotels" section in lastminute.com... you can select the star rating, amenities and general location but you don't know the name of the hotel until they get your cash. It's a way of the hotel running a sale on unbooked rooms quietly. I've used it a couple of times- specifying a swimming pool in the city centre usually gets you the Sheraton on Festival Square for about £80/ night.....
Heres the prices as they stand on laterooms.

Theres plenty of choice and if you dont need to be right in the centre the prices are really quite reasonable.
