Does anyone have a map of the new route and where the junctions are etc? Google doesn't seem to be my friend on this one.

Meant to be finished early an all so i heard yesterday!

You'll regret that - its way ahead of schedule seemingly

Apparently it's 2 months ahead of schedule, but the extension really should have been built 30+ years ago, so still a little late all things considered!

The original target (August 2011) was 6 months ahead of the contracted date (February 2012) and it looks like they'll finish by June 2011.

if only the M80 was going so well, there is more chance of killie winning the spl than of that thing being finished early

I was told at a meeting with EDC officials that because the M80 is progressing faster than scheduled, the Kirkintilloch Link Road has been delayed as there is a shortage of tarmac!

I am still not sure of what is going to happen where it meets the Kingston Bridge for traffic heading into town - for traffic joining the M8 Westbound its an on-ramp, but for town it looks like it could be a bit of a bottleneck.

My other halfs family live in Cambuslang, going to make that a far more easily commutable place. I know its only 8 or so miles away at the moment, but the journey is all in built up areas with millions of traffic lights.

well massive congrats are due to the 5 guys that have built the road, in all my time going through the roadworks I have never seen any more than 5 guys working, plenty in white hard hats and clean hi-vis being gaffers but not many grafting

will be good once it is finished but in all honesty for us going to and from knockhill at early o'clock it has only added 5 minutes to the journey time but it is the constant checking of the speedo in the roadworks that is a pain

They were saying it would be a June completion last year, but I guess there's been delays..

Arse! The thought of this completion was one of the few things making commuting from the southside to Livingston bearable.

Still says that it's ahead of planning in the link. Feb 2012 is the deadline, i would say that finishing before that is ahead. wink

bks another season of roadworks, I am just glad I only have to use it once a month, really feel for the folk using it every day

noticed the moodiesburn bypass is open with a effin 40 limit on it, so that is 50 from silverburn to crowood or thereabouts then 40 to effin haggs.. och if it runs smooth it is alright, it is when there is a muck up and 2 satsumas decide to go towards coatbridge and the m8 on a day celtic got horsed by rangers, how we escaped alive is a miracle. one rule, orange gear comes off at track and neutral colours go on for the drive home

Does anyone have an opening date for this yet? It seems to be very quiet. Surely they have set the date and Alex Salmond will be driving along to open it?
