Hi,

Can anyone recommend a company in Aberdeen to repair a small chip in my windscreen? I thought maybe only Autoglass do this but this seems far from the case! It's not that big (2mm square, maybe 3 at most) but I don't want it to get any worse if it can be helped. Don't want to go through insurance.

From what I have seen on most sights it is not in drivers line of sight either.

Thanks in advance.

Why don't you want to go through your insurance?
If you have a half decent policy it'll be free, and won't effect your no claims.
Just had both my cars done like this in the last couple of months, no hassle.

But your insurance will go up.

No it won't, and even if it did, you still have no claims, so you can move to another company anyway.

Yeah as said, regardless of what they say they will probably still hold it on record. It's under £50 with some firms - just wanted to know if anyone had had it done by anyone but Autoglass.

So you make a claim on your insurance and it doesn't go up? You'll have to notify the next company that you use that you've made a claim. There isn't a magic pot of money where these windscreen companies get paid from someone has to pay.

Well instead of us all speculating on an Internet forum, phone them and ask.

Just had a windscreen chip done. Fair job - only a slight visual improvement really, at least it is sealed.

If you want it paid for by insurers you have to call them and ask who their preferred supplier is.

One telephone call should do it.

I had to use National Windscreens, they are based in Dundee but travel to Abz frequently.

No, you don't have to. In any case, when you call the 'glassline' the call goes straight to the 'preferred' supplier's call centre.

Another way is to call your local company and ask if they deal with your insurer.

I tried Autoglass (booked online) but they called and said they couldn't do it because they weren't the preferred supplier for my insurer any more - they gave me the 'glassline' number. Seemed strange they would give away business..

Out of interest, who have they referred you to?
