I was at Perth Airport on a course this week and they were using the runway pans as a prep area so I had a wander over to be nosey and take some pics. I only had my iPhone with me but the quality was ok.

Anyone tried Google-ing Rally of Scotland or IRC Scotland. You would have thought they'd have at least had a dedicated website!

Exactly - they need a dedicated website rather than "one of the MSA's events".

Went along to the Clashmore stage today and was very disappointed with the organisation and the overall event. After getting over the inevitable pain of driving along the forest road to get to the parking there were pretty much no details on where to go and where to watch from. I wasn't expecting someone to give me all the details but there was only a few signs saying "spectators" with an arrow. On getting to the rally route the marshalls weren't very helpful on knowing when cars were due to start, how many there were still to run or where to go once that run had finished. I don't think it would have been hard for them to have had a sign or some info on what was happening.

Nobody even asked to see our tickets....

I wasn't expecting to turn up, have a covered seating area and hot drinks served to me but the whole thing wasn't setup for spectators at all....poor show.

I went along both Sat & Sunday and was underwhelmed by the whole experience. I head North to watch the Snowman Rally each year so that was my benchmark.

On the Saturday, traffic was a nightmare with M90 closed nr Perth but once we finally got to SS6 Craigvinean, the cars all went past us in about 40 mins - nothing more to see folks, move along! Disappointing given the effort to get there and if I'd known how small the entry list was, I'd have stayed at home.

The only reason we went back on the Sunday, was due to the fact the National B Rally was following the IRC through a few stages with an entry list which included my personal favourite rally weapon, a Metro 6R4. We went to SS12 Loch Ard and a few miles before the stage, the Metro 6R4 passed us - on a trailer, heading the opposite direction....Doh! The addition of the National B Rally cars to the field made this a much more worthwhile trip but even then, was not a patch on The Snowman.

The actual organisation of the event was ok although my co-driver having a blue disabled badge probably tempered my views on this as we got parking right next to the stages, but as others have said - where was this event publicised? I only found out a week before and was handed weekend passes - if I had stumped up the £45 face value for each ticket, I would have felt a little short changed.

In summary, you're better off saving yourself for The Snowman next February!

"paid £45 for a weekend pass"

WOW. That kinda spoils the whole event for me I'm afraid.

Last "did" a rally (the Snowman actually) must have been 2000 ish, had a great time helping marshal. Met Pennti A (opening car, RIP mate) great craik.

Hmm.

Mo.

I went along on Sunday too and like IainT was pretty underwhelmed by the event. That said, Wilks,Meeke,Hanninen and Mikelson were truly spectacular through the fantastic set of corners that we were at in Loch Ard. Bogie and Greer were okay in the Evo's and the rest were dull
However I was VERY disappointed at the total number of cars actually running,(24 I think). I thought like IainT(again) that the National B cars (about 15 of them)would make it worthwhile but they were pretty crap to be honest; and no 6R4 which I really wanted to see. I thought before I went that £20 for my day pass was a bit steep but that it would be worth it, but no, I felt a bit ripped off. Apparantely last year it was £20 per stage!!!
I think they will have to get a few more entries before folk will come out in numbers to see this again.
Yeah, the Snowman is a much better event to watch; and its free!
