My usual Japanese restaurant in Glasgow is currently closed, due to a ventilation issue. frown

Any other recommendations? Not Wagamama - something a wee bit more formal (ie along the lines of Nanakusa)

This looks promising - http://www.sapporo.co.uk/glasgow/home.asp

Any feedback?

It's not Japanese but this place (Korean) is better than Nanakusa IMO.....

Now called Shilla.

(added benefit of The Ben Nevis across the road...smashin' wee pub with a great selection of Whiskey's)

Which is your usual?

I was going to recommend Ichiban but it's maybe a bit informal?

I've eaten in Yen at the Rotunda by the SECC a few times (http://www.yenrotunda.com/contact.html) and it has been excellent. The Teppanyaki downstairs is great and the a la carte menu in the restaurant upstairs is huge, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and they have their own parking!

I've been to most of the places name-checked in the thread and this place is better - foodwise, and IMO - than all of them:-

http://www.list.co.uk/place/103162-rumours-kopitia...

It's Malaysian and quite informal, but the food is excellent. My Malaysian friend goes here all the time, so it must be good thumbup

I think Yen is overrated (and overpriced!) and it is in the middle of nowhere. Sapporo is the same kind of experience, but cheaper and in a better location for moving to any post-dinner bars, etc...

True, if he'd asked for a recommendation on Malaysian, I'd have recommended it!

OP, if you want a great burger try AdLib on Ingram St, they're superb ;-)

OP, if you like the Ben Nevis pub Yen is closer to it than any of the City Centre options.

I like ichiban a lot, though I prefer the one in the west end, on dumbarton road. It's about as formal as nanakusa so you may like it?
