Cairngorm open this weekend (well a bit of it)
Lifted from http://www.winterhighland.info/forum/read.php?2,12...

I have no idea what voucher(Strathy) they mention but sub 10 quid for a days is a bargain in anyones book

"CairnGorm Mountain will be open for snow sports this weekend. Skiing is limited, suitable for intermediate and expert skiers only (no beginners – sorry). Skiing uplift will be from the train only, with mid station stops. A run has been pisted down the Traverse, 105 and back to the train mid station stop. Patrol report The White Lady and M1 are both skiable with care but neither have been prepared or marked. Last winter’s season ticket is valid and if you have a voucher from the Strathy (see below) you can ski for £1. The ski day ticket price for the opening Saturday and Sunday this weekend will be £9.75 for adults or £6.15 for juniors. (no half day tickets). Ski Hire will not be open at CairnGorm this weekend, please hire any kit you need before you come up. Come and have some early season fun….."

The Lecht is not worth the fuel to get there IMO, the runs are way way too short.

Cairngorm is really starting to look promising too though, how about a PH snow sports meet?

The Lecht is great for learning, but a bit boring (and short) once your of any standard. Had a look on the webcam and most of the snow has gone. Cairngorm looking good for a few runs today, pity im offshore.

I'm a bit further along the coast than you (Trondheim). I was out doing my first cross-country skiing last Saturday as we have enough snow round here.

Not quite enough here, normally head down to oppdal but its a fair trek if the conditions are'nt that great. Have you been to Are? was thinking about heading over for a weekend but its a good 5+ hours(in a banger works van) i believe.

I haven't been to Oppdal or Are yet, at least for skiing. I was in Oppdal during autumn, as a friend comes from there, but it was a month or so ago. Hopefully can go sometime soon. Doesn't look like there will be much snow for the next week - just -8C or so. The snow we have here is just enough - a few small patches you have to be careful for, but enough to ski on. I'll ask at the office if anyone's been to the skicenters yet, if you want?

Sounds like it's just the snow machines at the at the moment, although no-one has been yet as they were thinking there's not enough.
