I live in Aberdeen and I am an architect, although I changed career direction and no longer practice.

I visited a friends house the other day and was very impressed with the architectural and construction work.

Always start with a good architect that understands your budget, needs and timescale, then find a builder.

If you knew me, you'd know recommendations don't come lightly, but I would give this chap a phone.

As for contractors, he will recommened a few. I can recommend a few, only a few!

Thanks for that. His website looks promising so I'll get in touch on Monday and see if he can help me out.

Cheers

Guys,

I'm planning a new garage, around triple car size with space for a room or two in the roof space.
Good luck with the Planning Dept whistle

On a side note, (and apologies for the post hijack!) but can anyone point me in the direction of someone experienced and competent in pouring concrete floors for a new build with an underfloor heating system?
The answer is, depends.

It depends on how and who is installing the system and what type of system and how the job is set up, i.e. in terms of other contractors (if) on site. Assuming this is still Aberdeen we are talking about?

Why not built it yourself.

This was my first attempt at the building trade and although I employed a couple of brick layers to build the walls and roughcaster to seal the exterior I managed to do the rest myself
