To cut a long story short, I sold an offroad-modified Jeep (XJ 4.0 Ltd) to a mate a few years back for about £4k. It's just failed it's MOT with very rotten sills although the rest of the truck is in great nick (interior is almost as-new!). He's offered it to me, as is, for £500.
He's been quoted £2k to repair it which seems crazy to me. On further detective work, it would appear that the quote's based on brand-new OEM sill panels from Jeep (£800!) and the labour rate is £50.
The offroad bits'n'bobs (3" lift, 31" BFG MT's, rock sliders, front ARB discos, safari snorkel and a full length roofrack that cost the 1st owner £700!) are easily worth £500 on ebay but it would be a shame to see the jeep broken/scrapped as the rest of the car is in great condition.
So, any recommendations of an artful local welder who could put in some box-section repairs at a decent price?
Insch/Inverurie area...
Cheers
