I know this is totally obvious to everyone here but just want to re-iterate to folk there, please take your time in the ice.

I was coming from kingswells roundabout to skene earlier tonight and some guy in a Yaris, 51 plate went spinning from left lane and ended up hitting an Audi in front of us. All happened very very fast and was purely due to the guy going to fast, everyone else had grip.

Luckily right hand land was on red and I had slowed down sufficiently to engine break upto the red or he would of been side on into me...

Take care folks.

Another dodgy road is Groathill Road South in Edinburgh. On the uphill section its totally covered in ice, you can hardly walk on it.

On my way from work today I went on that road and on my way up the hill I passed a car (winter tyres +chains in the boot smile ) sitting in the hedge and blocking part of the road. I stopped and went to see if the lady driver needed some help. As we tried (my and couple of gents who live on that road) to push the lady's car out of the hedge, there were cars slowing down to have a look at what we were doing... and that was a big mistake. Once they slowed down they started spinning wheels and sliding down the hill. After a while there was about 5-6 cars on the bottom of the hill, some of them trying to turn around and some trying to get passed them and have a go at driving up the hill... They also ended up at the bottom after more or less struggle.

Once we got the lady moving again we had to push another couple of cars to help them on their way. I spent more than an hour on that road helping folks out. Every time I was walking away to my car, somebody else got stuck...

After all it was enjoyable experience. I'm hoping that the lady will get her dent on the car sorted (after hitting the fence).
