Sympathies go to the driver's family but the picture really doesn't make you think this would be a fatality?

Hit a police car, strange one, was it in the middle of the road?

Looks kind of like it from the picture which is of nearside of the cars.

I passed a police car (a Volvo not the land rover) stopped behind a broken down car a few hours beforehand. Also passed the scene 10 minutes before the crash but didn't pick up anything on the other side of the road. It was quite foggy though and the original police stoppage was on a long blind bend, so I'm guessing it was around there. My condolences go to his family frown

Sobering (absolutely no pun intended) how that accident befell the unfortunate driver.

RIP.

Withouts seeing driver side of car its hard to say but there haave been a few fatalities in news recently where photos of relatively undamaged car with passenger cell intact and you wonder if cause of death was no seatbelts?

Sad for familiy involved

Not strange at all IMO.

How many times have you seen video (on these police video type programmes) of police cars being struck whilst 'safely' on the shoulder?

Also, breakdown recovery vehicles and highway maintenance vehicles are frequently struck.

Target fixation.

As for it proving fatal, Fiat Panda vs LR Discovery is not looking great for the Panda - plus the driver was elderly, may have had other medical issues etc. (may have been unrestrained, who knows?)
