Best steak in Edinburgh?

Going out for dinner with some friends in Edinburgh in a few weeks, a fussy shower of bds. Just about the only thing they will all eat is steak.

So, where's the best place for a really good steak in the city centre? Budget not really an issue.

La Favorita on Leith Walk, had the best fillet steak I've had in years there last night. It's italian, but the food is sublime.

They only offer the fillet and it's about £20, but well worth it.

Seconded! I used to work in some of the Leith Shore restaurants and this was our favourite steak house.

Get in a taxi and come tojust outside Linlithgow and go to the Champany if you want an amazing steak

Champany is 20 miles away from Edinburgh. Hardly city-centre. Steak houses as such are rare(!) but most proper places will have a 28-day aged steak from a named feckin cow on the menu. Try North Bridge Brasserie, Ondine, Cafe Royal, L'Escargot Bleu, Grain Store. ESI in Leith is the best steak I've had recently, not as plush as the above though.

Had a great steak in the Rutland last time i was down have also heard there is a rooftop restraunt that does a great steak on George Street? Any of the locals know it? Did hear it was a bit on the pricey side though

I must admit, was difficult to concentrate on my Steak ha ha! But managed to get through it :-)
