The family barge conked out a weekend with failed alternator. Unable to get it to my favoured franchised dealer I managed to get it into a specialist indy highly recomended by a friend who happened to be open on Saturday.

Indy had to take gearbox out to replace alternator - 3l of Gearbox oil £60 please! Franchise dealer claims you dont need to remove box!

They had to take the gear box out of the zafira to change the alternator! Surely they are ripping the piss!

Well yes Vauxhall garage say no need but car was immobile garage and is well thought of by a friend admittedly a they specialise in a different make I needed job done so (expensive?)lesson learned
