Hi, we have a short stay in Aberdeen coming up and would like a recommendation for a nice curry restaurant. We've been in the past to Blue Moon, Light of Bengal and Jewel in the Crown. It's for my wife and I and we'd like something with a pleasant atmosphere, service and surroundings. Any ideas? Thanks.

Cinnamon on Union Street is probably the best, pricey.

The one on Bridge Street is good aswell, Nazma I think?

The spice mill in Grandholm Village, bridge of don is really good, been there a few times as I stay there and never been disappointed!

Food was decent on takeaway.

However, on both occasions I have bought a takeaway from then they have been a nightmare. 1st time they forgot to send half of the stuff (no drinks, missing naan bread) and both times they took over two hours to deliver.

The only reason I ordered the 2nd time was because they owed me food and drinks from the first order.

I would avoid this and try one of the others mentioned.

Can't vouch for delivery but the resteraunt is great, only live 30 seconds away which is convinient really!

It was bought the first time through 'Just eat' website. Reviews seem similar.

Anyway, any one mentioned seems like a good bet. Let us know what you go for.

Hi all. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I should have said we wanted city centre, so Grandholm Village is out.

I've just researched Cinnamon and it has mostly bad reviews on tripadvisor. I know review sites have to be taken with a pinch of salt, but Cinnamon comes out particularly badly. Spice Dabba looks interesting and a little different, I think we'll probably try this one. Or on the day we might fancy typical curry house and go for Shabaz or Nazma. Whatever we decide, I'll let you know how we get on.

I was in Cinnamon with the missus in december and i thought it was good - as said though, it is pricey.

Nasma on bridge street is good.

Also I have had good takeaway from Blue Moon on holburn street bet never eaten in the restaurant.

Cinnamon is the best in Aberdeen, we've never had a bad meal in there, and the food is different to the usual Indian. I've never understood the trip advisor reviews for it.

Well, on the day, a friend thoroughly recommended Nawaabs in Summer Street so we went there. Unfortunately it wasn't that great. The head waiter [owner?] was grumping around the place; my pathia lacked any heat and in any case was nothing like any pathia I have seen before and my wife's dish was bland. On the good side, the service was quick, the chicken was cooked well and the price was reasonable [or it would have been if the food tasted good].

So I really should have listened to you guys instead and tried Nazma or Shabbaz.

Shame to hear about Nawabs. I haven't been in for a few months but my previous experience was always good.
