night in edinburgh
Discussion
Its the Scotland v Wales match on Saturday at 5pm finding a quiet pub in the centre of Edinburgh is impossible. About half of Wales descend on Edinburgh and the surrounding area for the weekend and no matter what the result it is a big drinking weekend.
Basically you have the option of join in with the atmosphere or stay in your room.

We're going on sunday night.Do you think it'll be any quieter or do the rugby lads just carry on till they fall down.Good bunch of supporters so shouldn't be too much of a problem.( I think!!!)Basically you have the option of join in with the atmosphere or stay in your room.
Like the others say it'll be busy after the rugby, but you could try things like Bon Vivant on Thistle street, or Dog's on Hanover street (the bar under the stairs, not the restaurant upstairs) they should be a bit off the usual rugby crowd track to be a bit quieter (though I think Bon Vivant is owned by a former Scotland player)
I'd recommend Whighams (http://www.whighams.com/) which is a lovely wine bar at the end of George St; Bramble (http://www.bramblebar.co.uk/) at the other end of George St and down toward Queen St; All Bar One on George St itself (http://www.allbarone.co.uk/allbaronegeorgestreetedinburgh/) although perhaps a tad obvious and thus busy with the rugby crowd; the aforementioned Dogs; and Voodoo Rooms has some lovely cocktails, thought only been once (http://www.thevoodoorooms.com/).
Plenty in that neck of the woods.

If it's still rammed, head down to Leith where you'll find many of Edinburgh's better pubs and restaurants. On sunday eve it will be nice and quiet...
Certainly down here for a nice bite to eat too. Recommend getting a cab down to the Shore and having a few drinks in Malt and Hops (real ale), Kings Wark, Fishers and definitely definitely the Shore pub itself if you're with the missus. Often live but good jazz there on a Sunday too. Eat at the Waterfront, short walk round the corner or at any of the pubs mentioned above, bearing in mind that the Malt and Hops don't do food.
