I have been looking at getting my old man a ticket for one of their tours as a birthday gift, £129 for a 40 minute tour but it looks like it could be very enjoyable, especially to someone who enjoys climbing the munros around the area to see a different view of them.

Has anyone been that can offer their thoughts, was it boring, exciting, great value, waste of money etc!

Thanks in advance.

I've never been on one, but seen it take-off and land a few times whilst driving over there, and always fancied it!

Looks fantastic smile

Maybe consider a flying lesson out of Glasgow airport flying club instead - roughly same route but the old man would get to fly the plane...........did this for the wife as a treat a wee while back.

I treated my dad to exactly this for his 70th and he loved it. It was a beautiful day in April so still some snow on the peaks and he talked about it for ages. I think there were maybe five others with him for the flight which lasted about 40 mins.

Since we were right on Loch Lomond side we headed over to Luss after and enjoyed dinner at the Lodge on the Loch to round the day off.

As you can see from my sig, we are a B&B and have had quite a lot of guests that have been on the plane. They say it was excellent, well worth the money.
IMO no better way to see the Loch.

Many thanks for the replies, I'm going to get him the flight that leaves from loch lomond (rather than glasgow) and get family to meet us up there for lunch/dinner, lodge is a good shout, not a fan of cameron house at all.

With regards to the suggestion of a flying lesson, not sure its his thing, think he'd rather look at the scenery than concentrate on the flying, however I quite fancy it myself!

Really like the look of this. Was driving out that way last week. Sunny day and snow on the mountains. Really nice.

I would recommend lodge on the loch if you havn't been, very nice and not extortionate.

I don't like to be the first negative post but I had nothing but hassle with Loch Lomond Seaplanes. Myself and one of my friends had two gift flights from the City Centre to Oban. We tried for over a year and a half to book flights. Each time we booked they cancelled a day or two before the flight! We managed to come to an arrangement and get a flight booked from Oban back to Glasgow, great we thought! This was for a Sunday, so we decided to get the train to Oban on the Saturday, stay overnight and fly home on the Sunday afternoon. On the Saturday, we were just passing Ardlui on the train when I received a call cancelling the flight!!! Due to a "technical problem." You can see from the above posts that things have went well for some people however in my experience I found them very unprofessional and at times rude on the phone. So be on your guard! After a struggle I ended up getting a refund.

Cheers,
C

If it's a flying tour of The Loch you're after. I've used Lothian Helicopters. They leave from a farm at Inchinan, over Renfrew way, or Strathblane. I took my Dad and Nephew on the Glasgow City tour as they are both into Football and they fly over the 3 big stadiums (Hampden, Ibrox and Parkhead), but also do Loch Tours. I spoke to a couple of folk who had just came back from one whilst we were waiting for the City tour and they were raving about it.
