laser speed camera at night?

A quick question,

I was under the impression laser speed cameras were not used at night?

On Friday morning @ 5:30AM!!! they were using one just before the north bridge off the black isle!!

out the passengers window of a marked volvo estate, though as it was very dark it was hard to see until very close, sneaky sods!!

Was it a van or a Police car Robin?

You cant see it until your on it, then only just.... No escape.......
