Good videos, although I held my breath at 0:13 on video 2 - that overtake by the Elise/Exige was completely blind...Part One

It isn't actually. I know that spot well and it is deceiving on the vid. There is a tiny elevation on the approach and a line of sight through the following right hander.
It looks like he was hanging out there for a bit to assess.
Looks like a great time was had though.

If you are still struggling give me a shout on Sat night. I should know if I can go or not by then, depends on finishing an album up on Sat or not.

If you look at the video, he's out well before the warning sign, and commits soon after. If you know the road (or if you don't, look at google maps) you'll see that you cannot see clearly enough to complete an overtake at that point (remembering google maps perspective is skewed, and makes it look better than it actually is).
The rise that you mention is almost non-existent (but the fact that you know it's there does suggest that you too know the road), but is probably only enough to offset the very low driving position that the Elise/Exige give versus a normal car.
The 'line of sight' that you suggest, I presume you are referring to this view?. Considering that, coming from the opposite direction, this corner is the end of a very quick straight section, and the corner is often taken at over 60mph, I maintain that this was not a safe overtake (especially with the volume of traffic at that time).
Anyway, I don't mean this to be an attack on the driver, and I have been guilty of a fair few dodgy overtakes in my time, so I'm not on my high horse here. It is just that I would not have had that overtake, even in the 996 Turbo.
Try pulling the view back a couple of clicks. You can see the cross from left to right bend from about 50m prior to the warning triangle which is where the Lotus starts to pass.
I looked at that and thought 35-40mph for the queue. Hard to judge.
A definite answer can never be reached on video/image appraisal. I do agree it doesn't look great on the vid but I have overtaken slow cars their on several occasions in something much slower than an Elise/Exige. I am not one for dodgy passes either.

Agreed. So we'll have to agree to disagree.
All I'll say is that if I'd been coming the other way in a hurry that would almost certainly not have had a pleasant outcome, and that is why I wouldn't have had that particular overtake on that occasion (watch the vidoe and try to imagine an Impreza coming the other way at 70, which is quite likely in this part of the world, and you might see my viewpoint).
Not directed at you/this specifically, but just because an overtake has been done 'many times', doesn't prove that it is safe.

Discussion is always good and the above statement is very true.A couple of weeks ago I was that Impreza coming the other way. Don't think I was doing 70 though...
Videos always make you look as if you are going much faster than you are!
Also depends on the lens used as it can give a lot of perspective distortion ie making things in the distance appear more 'together' than they are in fact
Main thing is everyone was safe and cetainly on the part of the run i was on i tought the driving was very safe and of a high quality
If it wasn't I or others would have hada quiet word.
I think we are very lucky in that with one or two small exceptions people try hard to be safe and considerate on these runs
Hope this continues
