Anyone been there/recommend it.

Planning a date out for The Anthill Mob before school starts, and it takes a couple of hours to get there.

Thanks in advance.

Heard it's a good family day out.
Never been myself, but I plan on going quite soon - would be nice if you could let us know how it went!

Have been a couple of times.
Once I did the wander around thing, enjoyed it. Part of a good day out.
Other time I did the shark pool dive thing. Excellent, although I did think my head was going to implode at first.

Interesting thing was, the sharks looked bigger when not looking through the glass.
I didn't expect that.

Leopard sharks yeah?
I went swimming with Leopard & Bonnethead sharks at Typhoon Lagoon in Florida smile Didn't know they did that over here too!

It's fine for filling in a morning but that's about it.

Its fine to fill in the morning as Penny says. It is also really quite expensive for what you get.

I would say it's certainly worth a visit but not all that big a place and it is quite expensive. We've been a couple of times now with our three and they've enjoyed it well enough but I still think Edinburgh zoo is better.

Thanks all. Looks like we will give it a try.

As for the Zoo there has been bad press recently, which is very disappointing.

I was at the zoo just the other week and it is still very good and all the animals were on show. The only bit shut off was the main entrance as its getting done up. You accessed the zoo through the car park. The penguin parade didn't happen when I was there mainly because they were more interested in nest building and moulting than showing off.

Me and the wife took our son to it last year (a spur of the moment thing on the way up the road from Edinburgh)

We thought it was absolutely gash! Really expensive and would never go back.

Granted we've been to much better places in Tenerife etc in the past so perhaps we're spoilt.

Really wouldn't recommend it.

Its a nice way of spending two hours looking at fish. i did it the best way--diving in the tank with the residents, courtesy of my kids. ps you nedd to be a qualified diver or youll just get fed to the gits...enjoy clap

It's the longest underwater walkway in Europe IIRC.

I love going there. Maybe a bit short life span for kids running about but i can spend hours in there.

It's a couple of years since we've been but thought it was very expensive for the couple of hours maximum it was.

I did the shark dive a couple of years ago & I have no diving qualifications what so ever. Spent an hour or so with the instructors then had a very enjoyable dive.

No idea what fed to the gits means (perhaps a qualified divers term..) wink

popped by with our little one a couple of weeks ago for a visit. OK at best, looking a bit rundown. A morning's worth at most.

Aye, well … Georgia may have the biggest single tank, but I reckon Monterey Bay Aquarium is the best. Can’t beat having a whole kelp forest and a main tank that’s partly open to the sea.

The best in the UK by far is The Deep in Hull. Miles ahead of the Deep Sea World chain, mostly because it’s an actual marine research centre and not just a tourist attraction. Means it has much better funding!
