I will need a fuel tanker!
Discussion
I will be touring the NW of Scotland at the end of this month with a gang of TVR's from the Blackpool region, so it won't be a mobil economy run! On the trip to Chatsworth last weekend my 450 SEAC returned 25 mpg being driven VERY steadily. I think I will need my own fuel tanker following me round Scotland.
I have noticed that 3000rpm in 5th gear is 75mph which seems low. Is this normal for a wedge or were SEAC's fitted with lower ratio differentials for optimum performance / acceleration?
So........ 1300 miles at say 20 mpg and £6.40 to the gallon, no wonder I can't sleep!

The 2000=50mph ratio is normal for 350i's I think. My 400SX has a slightly longer diff so 2000=55mph (roughly). I would have thought your 450 would be in the longer camp normally but maybe the original purchaser wanted it that way?
Is this off the speedo or double-checked with GPS/Satnav?
Also you can gain or lose a few percent depending on wha tyres you have on the back and one percent between new rubber and worn out, but this doesn't show up on the speedo.

Thanks Guys, my readings were based on the speedo not Sat Nav so I will check it again using that. From all your posts I now have some data for comparison. I will keep a tab on consumption whist on the "tour" and post the reults. Perhaps I should run a sweepstake and generate some petrol money that way!
