Power steering rack 350 se

I have a little play in the track rod on the steering rack . Does anybody know if you can adjust it? it seems to screw onto the rack with a dowl pin through it or does it need a new arm ? If so where can I get one.

It is adjustable on a manual rack, don't know on power assisted but probably is. It has a spring and a nylon cup inside and with the dowel removed it can be tightened, but if adjustment is needed the cup is worn and it is best to be replaced. Have this situation on my original rack, and replaced the whole rack a couple of weeks ago it with a refurbished one (350i manual, cortina rack that has exactly the same dimensions and was a direct swap).
You can also have it refurbished and the rack would be as new.

It is the same on the power rack. You can remove the dowel, adjust and re-drill the dowel hole but be careful as I did this and ended up damaging the locking nut thread on the drilled portion of the rack. I couldn't get a replacement and had to get one specially made by a mate. I should have just got the whole thing re-conditioned as it needs doing anyway.
