Standard metalastic rear A frame bushes.
Discussion
Hi guys
Does anyone know where I can buy the Standard metalastic rear A frame bushes?
I have noticed that TVRpower sell them, but they are £22 each plus VAT and there is 16 of them (bit steep maybe?). They must be off some other car surely?
I did fit some of the poly bushes but ended up taking the car off the road a few years after to refurb the chassis, unfortunately the polys weren't really designed to do the job and had worn out as they pivoted like a bearing, evidently these are not the prefered bush now (for the reason mentioned)and the recommended replacement seems to be hard nylon, not sure I'm keen on spending another 300 quid on nylon as I personally think it will be way too hard and either give very harsh road noise or even worse crack or bend the suspension components.
Anyone got any experiance?
any help would be appreciated.
Jon.

Hi
yeah I spoke to Richard a few months back it was him who suggested the nylon bushes as he said he couldnt get the standard now, i'm just reluctant to spend more money if they dont work, 8 or 10 years ago all the specialists seemed to suggest poly bushes and coil over shocks for the best set up, if you speak to them now they all tell you to keep away from coil overs as they bend the top mount and that the poly bush wasn't the right design for the way the suspension worksas the standard bush is a tight fit in the wishbone on the outside diameter and the inside diameter nips up on the A frame mount then the whole lot twists on the rubber which is fully bonded, neither the poly bush or the nylon bush will work like this. I did turn some bushes out of graphite impregnated bearing nylon and was going to use the original poly bush inner with them but havent dared to fit them just in case it damages anything, took me ages to take the body off grit blast the chassis and bilthamber and por 15 it, dont want to bugger it up too much

Yeah I think the rust killer is, I used the 90% zinc paint, it seems to have worked well the por 15 isn't too bad either, my only regret is I used the two pack stuff that can go on top of othe paints and undercoats it is a pig to put on though. Hopefully won't chip off like the hammerite did though
