Took Shadowfax off for its MOT today but unfortunately its been failed. My rear end needs replacing it seems eek

Its not as bad as it sounds really, but one of the driveshaft UJ's is knackered so its time for those to be replaced. Brakes on the rear are not too clever either so I've decided to have new calipers, discs and pads done at the same time. The calipers appear to be on their last legs so I thought it best to get the whole lot done. At least with the UJ's being done at the same time it'll save on jobs later on.

Other than that just needs a tweak to the front wheel bearings and a couple of knuckle joints on the steering arms (advisories), one headlight bulb and a new windscreen wiper!

Yes been there done that (twice on the same car this year) but finally got an MOT and the car is much better for the fettling to get it through the MOT TBH.

Enjoy once you have it sorted.

Bit more complex (read expensive) than taking it down the road for a good Thrashing.
Not too bad though as all parts concerned are pretty much consumables.

Spooky. Thats what mine has just failed on too, drive shaft UJ! Oh and steering rack gaiter and exhaust leaking gas frown

Luckily its raining for the first time in months so not missing out too much.

I think UJ's must be flavour of the month, apparantly a blue 400SE was mot'd last week there and had the same failure. Lots of play at the wheels. One of those things though thats got to be done if you want to keep the wheels attached!

I'm getting mine done straight away so very much looking forward to getting it back at some point in the next week or two. I cant say the back end felt particularly out of sorts but hopefully once this is done I can be confident that it wont need doing again for quite some time to come.
