Investigating the cause of flickering instrument lighting (probably a bad earth ), I stripped out the dash and thereby also found the cause of poor airflow through the dashboard airvents. They were partially blocked by the foam rubber that "seals" the dashboard airvents.

I also noticed that there is a gap between the end of the fan cowl and the body. There is a piece of rubber with a hole cut in it the size of the opening to the fan, but this was just lying on top of the fan cowling.

Should this gap be closed?

Where does the piece of rubber go?

There is an outlet (shown in the Bible - p81 top diagram) on the RHS that is shown as leading to a dashboard vent. I don't have that vent, so is it worth blocking off the outlet?

I assume this would direct more air to the windscreen vents.

There does not appear to be any vent into the driver's footwell (only to passenger's, and that is a via convoluted hose on mine, not a box as shown in bible) - is this correct?

Thanks - Streaky
