Yo.

After an evening spin i switched the headlights on as i drove the car back into the garage. Pods didn't come up. After a little fiddling it seems that they rise ok if i put light switch onto sidelights. If i then move switch to full headlights the pods go back down with a shudder. When up all lights/bulbs work ok including main beam.

Any ideas? The only thing that has changed since i last used them is as my earlier post mentions i fitted bulbs to the boot interior lights this afternoon after discovering there were no bulbs in them for some reason.

Could this just be a coincidence?

I've just been in the garage and taken out the boot bulbs and checked all the fuses. Still not working.

What about relays? I can't figure out whats what from the 'bible' diagram

Could either be the switch..Loose wire going to the pod..Pod motor..Or the diodes in the motor..Try giving the drivers side wires that go to the pod a little wiggle..Thinking about it mine did that when the switch was faulty and a wire had popped out on the stalk switch,

Sounds like a grotty contact in the switch, but could be a blown diode, probably down by the relay board. It probably won't be the motor diodes as it'd have to be a hell of a coincidence for both of them to fail at the same time.

Well after a little more investigation it looks like it's somethng to do with this little beastie............

I remember a couple of days ago whilst checking all the fuses it came apart from the brown wire.

If i remove it completely the symptoms described above are the same. If i replace it with a piece of solid wire the lights work as they should(although headlights come on with switch in sidelight position and just flicker when put in full headlight position). Does anyone know the rating of this? It has the numbers 813 on it i think.

Its Just a diode with a couple of crimps on the end, I would expect that any 1A rectifier diode would do the job as it's only used to energise the relay coil.

If you can't get hold of one let me know and I will have a rummage at work !
