I hope they take a few photos, the last few issues of Sprint seem to have been a wedge free zone.
(Ok I do there were 2/3 small wedge images in each.)
Hi(Ok I do there were 2/3 small wedge images in each.)
Well has anybody sent the "Sprint" editor anything recently, like interesting artcles and pics about "Wedges"?
Andy
Rob
It's not the lack of articles, of which there have a few.
It's just that there are so few photos of wedges at regional meets, club events and, maybe I'm paranoid, photos in general. Sprint seems to be very lacking in wedge-ness.But Hey!! Maybe it's also lacking in Grantura 2a-ness too.
Wedges were produced by TVR for some many years, and those years do seem to be missing from the history. I'm not anti TVRCC, my membership goes back a long way, and I've always agrued that any car from the marque should be included in the appreciation of the history. But I do get the feeling that Wedges may not be quite as loved as Curves.
Ok so the 3000S and the S have a family resemblance, but the beating heart of the Griff 500 first came to life in the 350i.
The wedge was of its time were all the cars from Grantura to Sagaris, and everything else in between.
Sorry all rant over.....

Normal practice is for decent journolistic and editorial people to go out and find the fillings of the sheets. Or what is the point?
Rob
Normal practice for paid and professional decent journalistic (note corrected spelling mistake) editorial people is to go out and be proactive (to use the correct term). Rob
We are all unpaid amateurs who do this in our spare time as well as doing our day jobs.
That said, if we just sat back and waited for articles then there would be large numbers of blank pages month after month so yes we do rely on enthusiasts to send in articles, if people can't be bothered to promote their own model or marque than that says more about them than us.
There will be an article from Australia about importing a special Wedge from the UK in the next month or so.

I'm Deputy RO for West Yorkshire TVRCC with my 400SE and the main thing I notice when on many TVR events
is that I am often the only Wedge there (or 1 of a very few).
Yet it is a joke in our region that until recently we could find a pic of my car in the Sprint Magazine virtually every month.
My car was Miss March in the 2010 TVRCC Calendar and I recently won the Picture This Comp
Even the well organised Chatsworth (in the middle of the country) only had a relatively low number of Wedges
(and as I remarked in another posting, strangely over half of those were 400s)
My unbiased belief (sitting on the fence) is that the major reason there isn't much in Sprint about the Wedges
is that most Wedgers for whatever past reasons don't bother with the club anymore.
I am organising a Charity Day with my region and our neighbours this Saturday doing rides for poorly kids
and have nearly 40 TVR volunteers coming along - but there is only 1 other Wedge.
(I will do a report for Sprint and have the 2 Wedges at the front I hasten to add)
I for one welcome the committee's decision to hold their meeting there and to join us at the Wedgefest.
As with all things it can be 6 of one and half a dozen of the other IMHO
Cheers

Ok, heat proof suit on.....
The decision to attend BBWF was to show support for a key event celebrating one of the core TVR group of models....I mean who didn't lust after one in the forty something age group?? I know I did! Had a SEAC poster on my wall for a long time.
The dates for the next commitee meet was fixed at the last one and that's when we realised the best date was the same weekend as BBWF and only down the road. Bonus. Some of us have attended in ones and twos previously but we just thought it was a great idea to combine both. No agenda (well apart from the normal committee running order), no lording it over, no reds under the bed (no comment on anyone's hair colour
).
Hope to see you there. I am booked in overnight and hope to come to the ritual consuming of pig crackling and beer! See you at the bar if not during the day.
Jeremy
PS I guess I have to park the Tam round the back then?

Thanks for your comments and I look forward to meeting you again!
Ref the Hog so far I only have one memeber of the committee (+ partner) booked in so please get in contact soon, as we would not want you to go hungry!
Ref the Tam we will have a special parking area for non "wedge" TVR's so there will be no problem!
Andy
Hi Andy
I'm really looking forward to BBWF ... it's because of very naughty Wedge owners that I became a bit of a monthly meeting renegade. Long story that involves a SEAC and some very late nights on Exmoor ...
Is Roger the Alien going? Haven't seem him for years!
As Jeremy said, when we were planning the next committee meeting the date we were looking at fell on BBWF, so we thought it would be nice to combine business with pleasure. I'm looking forward to a beer or two with the Wedgers after the committee meeting rather than rushing home to do housework!
