Seriously now... I am thinking of replacing my cigar lighter with a starter button on my 280 (not the wrap around dash), i can get one from a Honda dealership i used to work for(S2000) i am stupidly thinking this looks like an easy job. i genuinly cannot think of anything that would cause problems apart from security, I have a good alarm and immobiliser. I know it is a bit tarty but i like living the crazy life. I am throwing down the gauntlett, CAN IT BE DONE. they put a man on the moon and STEPS got to number one....

Can it be done? Yes, of course it can!

Just add a few more relays ...

Yes is easy enough, once you have the dash apart and have tracked the fouth wire into the current ignition switch, after that all it needs is a 12v supply from the ignition switch to the other side of the terminal, a realy, presumably the Honda unit does not switch the starter directly, and any feeds for things like night time illumination.
...He makes it sound sooooooo easy...oh and while youre at it add a couple of hidden function realys, eg it will only start with say the running lights turned on...or the foot on the clutch (need an extra brake pedal type switch for that one though) just to confuse a thief...or get a seat belt buckle with a warning light feed, and use that, i imagine thieves rarely buckle thier seatbelts while attempting to hotwire!

I put in a few a bits like this when I re-wired my Wedge over the winter.

Iain

That is a very good idea, thank you very much for your input you can have a go at doing it at BBWF...I wont charge you for the privelidge...No seriosly thanks, but it has given me an idea though what if we had a mechanical demonstration pitch at BBWF where the experts gave advise and encoragement to people doing smaller jobs like this...or does this generally happen anyway..
