Switch headlamps on (fully) no headlamps only sidelamps pods dont move, switch the column stalk to mainbeam, pods pop up and headlamps are on....

Give me a clue someone as I have spent 4 hours messing about trying to resolve this one

Sounds like the steering(sp) module, controls when to use the pods or the just the lower spots etc.

Hi Mate..When mine were doing that it was a loose wire on the drivers side..In fact it still is loose..but i gave them a little wiggle and everything started working again, It seems that the feed comes from the O/S..Or it could be the headlight switch on the centre console...I know it could also be the diodes in the motors as well or the relays but more and likely a loose connection..Good luck ..Ziga

From my experiences it always ends up being a connection issue. I onced traced a fault to the dashboard loom connection, I have also had connection issues with the unit to the loom as well as a poor diode connection next to the fuses and realys.

If the light is totally dead and the fuse is ok - it will definitely be one of the above IMO.

Right then. all loom connectors within the pods have been split, sprayed with WD and reconnected, headlamp switch replaced, relays swapped and fuses checked, but to no avail, the diode....wouldnt know how to check it, can any body tell me if it has a specific value/specification so I can replace it.

Cheers Zig, is that the diode on the pod motor or the one at the fuse box?

Thanks for the info, just a shame the pod motors are all ok, they do pop up....but only on main beam....not doing it on low beam is the issue! bit of a bugger really, having said that, Wedge lights are errrrr pants so driving round on main beam.....wouldnt effect other road users in the leastlaugh

Chedder, sounds like a blown or poorly-connected diode down at the fuse board to me... you've eliminated everything else biggrin

Oh if it's a S1 then it may not have it, it should be by the fuse relay board,
As said it more likely to be the Diode, later cars only have one but not 100% on early cars.
