Made some progress... got the main calipers refitted on Tuesday night: amazing how much easer things go back together when you're not fighting rust and crap every turn of the bolts.
Then last night I slotted the handbrake calipers back in: I was expecting much swearing and heaving but apart from a bit of over-zealous paint stiffening things up it all went well.
Today I drove to Workington (2 hours), did 7.5 hours electrical installation in a noisy welding shop then drove home again. Nursy stoked me up with a massive plate of pasta then it was back under the car at 10PM to set-up the handbrake calipers with micrometric accuracy (I will have a decent handbrake yet) and install the new Cunifer pipe from the flexi to the calipers.
Still to do tomorrow night: lock-wire the caliper bolts; make and install a new Cunifer link pipe between the calipers; fill, bleed and leak-check; reconnect handbrake cable and check operation (i.e. test-drive!). This last bit may have to involve the M1 on Saturday so don't sit in front of me just in case
