Calling all Chassis numbers!

Hi

Following the post "More from the archivies" by Ian (Wedg1e) It appears that the confusion of the Wedge Chassis numbers is still not realy solved/understood.

This subject is an interest to me, so how about us trying to solve it once and for all.

I have a theory how TVR did the numbering pre the 17 digit vin number but even the 17 digit can be confusing i.e. model etc!

So to help with this boring idea can you posting up you chassis number model and approx build/reg date!
Then I will try and put it into some sense, so we can all understand it!

Hi Andy..Mine is Chassis Number:DH5324F1..Date of first registration..01/08/82..DHC Tasmin.

P:S On the registration document it is definitely a 1 and not an I..Hope this helps...

Back in the 80s the TVR Sprint magazine published all the chassis numbers together with owners.

The 1 or I is down to how the DVLA see things. I have both on my paper work,I wonder if they have been drinking a Rusty or two!!!

You never know mate...Anythings possible..The "I" makes more sense than a "1"..Its certainly not a racing car and it is definitely Fuel Injected..Ziga

280i DH5111F1 registered 1980 (a very early drop head!)

Would love to know how many fixed heads there are between 5098 (the first prototype Drophead I believe) and my car 5111 I know at least 3 are fixed heads so my car in in the first 10 Dropheads built but would love to know if its possibly in the first 5 built. (I assume in the early days of the DH they would have been selling more FH than DH?)

I suspect part of the confusion stems from the fact that the letter G in the middle denoted year of production, so car 494 of '86... my chassis 337 was almost a year later but that G is an H
